I wonder how many thousands of hours police spend on traffic rules?
I would say it's a lot.
I wonder how much crime, real crime, would be stopped if the police didn't have to doing traffic duty and work on crime ?
How would you stop Street drag race?
What I'm talking about is speeding, running stop signs and lights, car theft, parking in the wrong spot, crossing double white lines, no left or right turn, so much of this is wasting thousands of hours of police time.
Not to think about how many lives would be saved.
Today we could end all this!
And it is not that hard, 1/5 of the cars in the country all ready have them.
A Navman, 
GPS devices that can tell you how fast you are going and what the speed limit is on any given street, they even tell you where the speed cameras are.
My idea is to make it law all vehicle s on the road need to be fitted with one, new car produced would have them built in, in the dashboard and on the new car when you come up to the speed limit, that's as fast as you go, try all you like it doesn't let you go any faster.
You go to park in a no standing zone, the car flashes a light on the dash, 'no stopping', you go to get out and the hazard lights come on, as they should you are a hazard.
In the flash car version a robot voice comes over the car sound system, 'warning you are parked illegally' so you slam the door and walk away. 
The car sends a sms off to the road traffic authority letting them know.
Now I know there are time when you need too, flat tyre, broken down, but there are also times when you shouldn't and let say with a system like this you could quickly workout who bucking the system and fine them, warm the or just let it go.
So older car, a device could be kitted out with the works or as little as a GPS device with a mobile phone built in that'sanchored on the dashboard flashing or beeping warnings at you, watch out or a fine in coming your way.
You could remove it, but it wouldn't be hard to test all the cars in a given street by just call them, where are you?
And finding a park spot, you could click on the GPRS where you would like to park and then it would find the closes available parking spots around that point, how? By just querying the system and see if any parking spots are empty!
- You would get more time to watch the road instead of looking at the Speedometer.
- Drag racing would end over night.
- Teenage drivers would live longer!
- Insurance cost would go down.
- No one would drive in the bus lane.
- Cars would generally be going at the speed limit .
- No one would be holding up traffic crossing double lines.
- Looking for a park would be a click on the GPRS!
- NRMA would know when you have broken down and be on the way before you call them.
Think of this, driving would be about driving the car not looking up and down to check how fast you are going.
Driving is not a right, controlling a car on the roads is a responsible.
