How to do it! Minimize

How do you go from urban sprawl to liveable high rise living without building shoe box style housing?

How do you change this?
Urban sprawl
To this!
Liveable high rise living Liveable high rise living

The way I see the world changing is block by block, you take the below picture suburbs block and you talk to every owner, this shows them how we can change 26 housing blocks into one large high rise building surrounded with parks and gardens. The cost per quarter to run the heating, cooling, lighting is reduced  and less energy consumption is generated on site. This is achieved with money back from recycling and reusing of paper, metals, plastic and water.

Buildings that return energy back to the grid, use no or little water and is positioned near or over public transport, along railway lines, has six tennis/netball/soccer/hockey courts or fields and a full size Olympic pool and heated indoor training pool, surrounded with parks and gardens for growing fruit, vegetables and flowers.

The building would cover the first 6 housing blocks leaving 20 blocks of green space!

There would be either 30, 40 or 50 storey buildings with five to eight units on every floor, meaning that the 26 house have a average of 2 adults and 2 kids, so 4 people per housing block, this 104 people could fit into 5 floors of the high rise building leaving 25, 35 or 45 free units available for sale to other people wanting affordable, liveable life style. That's 500, 600 or 1000 more people that could move into the area. As they would from other less comfortable, unaffordable areas this would put pressure on developer and builder to make more efficient and environmental sustainable and liveable housing in others areas. Also making inefficient badly design housing and high rise living cheaper to buy and redevelop like this or even better!

Can you imagine a sea of green, with scattering of high rise towers coming up out of the parks and gardens, with nature reserves to complete ecosystems having natural water ways running around the buildings.

This is not the centre of the city I'm talking about this is the urban sprawl and the areas I would target would near public transport and along major rail arteries, places devoid of green space where land is affordable.
